Anacostia Playhouse welcomes DC-area vocalists Alisha Glover and Christopher Prince to its Friday Night Live concert series. This series features songs ranging from jazz to gospel and rock. The series is funded in part by the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities and The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation.
Alisha Glover, coined as “A Divine Muse” by some, boasts a strong and soaring multi-octave range that comparably emulates that of the late great Minnie Riperton. She’s shared the stage with acts such as Rahsaan Patterson, CeCe Peniston, Howard Hewett, Regina Belle, Miki Howard, Rachelle Ferrell, Gerald Veasley, Keiko Matsui, Peter White, Jeff Majors, Alyson Williams, Ann Nesby, Glenn Jones and many others. Her vocal genres are jazz fusion, funk, gospel, rock, R&B, and pop.
Christopher Prince is a multi-talented writer, singer, actor, and activist. He has performed at numerous jazz venues, festivals, and concert halls. Among these are the legendary DC Space, Blues Alley, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Adams Morgan Day, and the Fort Dupont Amphitheater. As part of the jazz vocal group “The Four of Us,” he has performed at the San Remo Jazz Festival in Italy and the Festival de Castelle in the South of France.
