Anacostia Playhouse is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Props Person for our upcoming production of ‘night, Mother. As a Props Person, you will be responsible for sourcing, creating, and maintaining all props used in our production.
This is an hourly position.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with directors, set designers, and other members of the production team to understand the visual style and requirements of the production
- Source, purchase, and/or create props as needed, ensuring they are accurate, appropriate, and within budget
- Manage inventory of all props, keeping them organized and in good condition
- Coordinate transportation and storage of props
- Conduct research on time periods, cultures, and other relevant information to ensure the accuracy of props
- Maintain clear communication with the rest of the production team to ensure props are delivered and used in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations during the handling and use of props
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Props Person or similar role in a related field
- Strong creative and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with various materials, techniques, and tools used in prop making
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to props handling and use
Job Type: Hourly
Compensation: $17/hr
Rehearsal Schedule
Monday through Friday: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- First Day of Rehearsal: March 28, 2023
- Tech Rehearsals: April 14 – April 16 and April 18, 2023
Production Run
April 19 – May 14th, 2023
- First Preview: Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 7 p.m.
- Opening Night: Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 7 p.m.
- Closing Night: Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 3 p.m. (Mother’s Day)
Performance Schedule
Performances will take place on the following days:
- Thursday at 7 p.m.
- Friday at 7 p.m.
- Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Sunday at 3 p.m.
