Travel south on 11th Street SE. At the intersection of M Street (Navy Yard) stay in center lane to go straight across the 11th Street Bridge, local span. At the Anacostia side of the bridge (intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue, SE, and Good Hope Road, SE) stay straight and take the first right at U Street, SE.
At the end of the block veer left onto Shannon Place, SE and the Anacostia Playhouse is the last warehouse on the left before the alley.
The local span of the 11th Street Bridge is accessible from both north and south. Watch for exits “695 to 395, Capitol Hill.” There will then be a second exit to “11th Street, MLK Ave.” If you are coming from the south, turn right at the top of the exit and continue as above. From the north, turn left at the top of the exit. Both of these exits are about 2/3 of the way across the bridge.
Via the 14th Street Bridge: Take the Southeast/Southwest Freeway toward toward 295/695/Nats Park/Capitol Hill. Pass the South Capitol Street and 6th Street SE exits. Stay right and follow signs for 11th Street SE. Turn right at the base of the exit onto 11th Street. Stay straight across the 11th Street Bridge. At the Anacostia side of the bridge (intersection of Martin Luther Kin, Jr., Avenue, SE, and Good Hope Road, SE) go straight and take the first right at U Street, SE. At the end of the block veer left onto Shannon Place, SE and the Anacostia Playhouse is the last warehouse on the left before the alley.
We are 5 blocks from the Anacostia Metro stop, green line. From Metro cross Howard Road and walk down Shannon Place (pass Savoy Elementary) 4.5 blocks to the Playhouse. Shannon takes a slight jog at Chicago Street. There is a Capital Bikeshare at Shannon and Howard. The Playhouse is also served by the 90, 92 and B6 buses as well as the Circulator. There is ample street parking and a fenced, paid parking lot open 24/7 1.5 blocks away.
The Anacostia Playhouse is joining our colleagues in the theater community in requiring proof of vaccination for indoor, in-person productions. This mandate will be in effect through the end of the year. Theatre Washington, the area’s alliance of theater organizations, has developed the following collective standards:* Audiences will be required to provide proof of vaccination to attend live, indoor performances.
Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, hosting clients or employees, or providing students with a memorable experience, bring your group of 20 or more to any Anacostia Playhouse production and enjoy group benefits.
